About Tameka

Originally from Alabama, I began my acting career at Alabama State University; where I revived the role of Blanche in “A Streetcar Named Desire”. From there I was able to perform while also receiving an apprenticeship at Williamstown Theatre Festival.

The following summer, I became a Lin-Manuel Miranda fellow at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center. This prompted a graduate degree from UNCG with a MFA in Acting in 2020. During such unprecedented times, I was able to continue art by showcasing through Lin-Manuel Miranda’s program, playing the role of Nettie in “The Color Purple on the Soufside”, and my upcoming role as Nurse Nikki in “Sacred” the Movie. This exciting incline to my career has enthralled me to make the big move. With plans to move to New York City in the fall, I will be able to create the art that can reach more people on a larger scale.
